i decided to weigh myself on sunday to see how my progress has been going the last 1.5 weeks. i have been fiercely dedicated to my diet and exercise program, and the results are starting to show already.
my new weight is 144lbs! i am so excited, i have never weighed this much in my life! it gives me even more motivation to continue forward.

new beginnings
my first post, how exciting! im not really sure what made me decide to start a blog, but oh well, lets hope it works out.
i have decided this summer to really work on some of my goals i have been meaning to accomplish for a while now, but maybe the most important one is to gain weight. unlike the majority of people in the u.s., i am an 'ectomorph,' or a 'hardgainer' in bodybuilding parlance, meaning my metabolism is naturally fast and i am unable to gain weight as easily as most people. whenever i describe this to others, i get the same response, "oh, you're so lucky, i wish i was thin. i wish i could eat anything i want without gaining weight." it's irritating.
in fact, i attempted to gain weight a few years ago in college, when i found a program online aimed at hardgainers. and while i did see sporadic weight gain after a few weeks, my motivation and determination quickly waned within a few months. to be honest though, my half-hearted attempt probably didn't help much.
however, i am now older (and supposedly wiser, as i tell myself) and am more informed and strongly motivated to start anew.
thus, i'm hoping this blog will allow me to not only share my thoughts about my journey towards a new body (among other unrelated opinions/gripes/rants), but push me and entice me to continue on when things start to falter or go awry (which will inevitable occur when i begin medical school in august).
my current stats ---
weight: 140lbs
height: 5'11.5" (curse the 6 feet tier, that elusive, magnificent, unreachable ideal)
my workout plan consists of working out three times a week (legs one session, back/biceps another, chest/shoulder/triceps third).
as for diet, it basically boils down to one thing: protein and more protein! i have even gone to the absurd length to purchase whey protein powder and MRPs (meal-replacement packs, which sounds about as appetizing as you might think) to fulfill my daily requirement of protein.
all in all, i am excited and looking forward to see what happens. we will see.
